The South African State Theatre is situated in the heart of Pretoria's CBD, in the block formed by Church, Prinsloo, van der Walt and Pretorius Streets.

From Johannesburg
Travel along the N1, Ben Schoeman Highway towards Pretoria. Be careful not to take the N1 Pietersburg, Pretoria East slip stream when you reach the outskirts of Pretoria.
The N1 Ben Schoeman Highway automatically becomes Potgieter Street when you reach the City.
Turn right into Schoeman Street from Potgieter Street. Follow Schoemanstreet until you reach Nelson Mandela Drive, turn left into Nelson Mandela Drive. At the first traffic light, turn left into Pretorius Street.
Continue across Du Toit Street, and then Prinsloo Street ensuring that you are on the right hand side. Once have you crossed Prinsloo Street you will see The State Theatre building on your right hand side.
Continue until you see the entrance to the parking on your right hand side.
From Polokwane (Pietersburg) or Witbank
Travel along the N1 Polokwane (Pietersburg) or Witbank, towards Pretoria. Follow the direction signboards and continue towards Pretoria City Centre. This will lead you onto Pretorius Street.
Continue all the way with Pretorius Street until you cross Prinsloo Street. Once you have crossed Prinsloo Street you will see The State Theatre building on your right hand side.
Continue until you see the Parking Entrance on you right hand side.
Stage Door entrance
This is the entrance to The State Theatre's offices, Administration Block and Back Stages, and is situated off Pretorius Street before you enter the parking garage.
Lifts - entrances to theatres and function rooms
The State Theatre parking garage consists of three levels (-1, -2. -3) with two sets of lifts on each level towards the Eastern/ Prinsloo Street side of the parking lot.
The first set of lifts (RED) - Opera, Computicket, Box Office, Executive Lounge, Baldinelli Foyer, Arabesque and Goldfields Function Rooms.
The first set of lifts will lead you to the ground level (0) of the Opera Theatre Complex where the Box Office, Computicket and stairs to the Opera Foyer/ Auditorium are situated. The Opera Auditorium can also be accessed using the lifts to level (1). Other theatres might also be accessed from ground level (0).
Access to the Executive Lounge, Baldinelli Foyer, Arabesque and Goldfields Function Rooms is via the Opera Foyer on level (1).
The second set of lifts (Green) - Drama, Arena, Momentum, The Intimate, Art Gallery, Ensemble, Garden Room and Arabesque.
The second set of lifts will lead you to the ground level (0) of the Drama Theatre Complex from where you can access stairs up to the Drama Foyer/ auditorium, Arena Theatre, Momentum Theatre, Intimate Theatre, Art Gallery, Ensemble Function Room and Garden Room. The Drama auditorium and Arabesque Function Room can also be accessed using the lifts to level (1).
Rendezvous Theatre - The entrance to this theatre is on the first (-1) level of the parking garage.
Exits
Once you enjoyed a visit to The Theatre, exit from the parking garage on the eastern side into Prinsloo Street.
for Johannesburg/ Johannesburg International Airport - Follow Prinsloo Street, which will lead you towards the Fountain Circle Intersection. Follow all the overhead direction signboards towards Johannesburg and Johannesburg International Airport.
for Polokwane(Pietersburg) or Witbank - Follow Prinsloo Street across Pretorius turn left into Schoeman Street . Continue with Schoeman and follow the direction signboards towards Pietersburg/ Witbank (N1).
