Described as ‘a deceptively clever theatrical piece’, it is a gripping story of gangsters on the run after a botched robbery that turns into murder, with some meaningful and realistic commentary about life in modern-day South Africa. As the four hijackers’ plans begin to unravel, the audience is brought into the midst of the action as they become pawns in a high-stakes fight for survival. Nominated for four Naledi Awards (Best Production of a Play, Best Director, Best Ensemble/Cutting Edge and Best Score/Arrangement/Adaptation), the play has been performed to great acclaim at the South African State Theatre, the Market Theatre and most recently the Edinburgh Assembly Fringe Festival ,where it received some five-star reviews. The ensemble cast comprises Presley Chweneyagae ,well-known for his role in the Academy Award-winning film Tsotsi (at certain performances only – watch press for details), Zenzo Ngqobe, Boitumelo Shisana and Don Mosenye.
“utterly compelling viewing” – Sunday Independent
“a gripping work” – Mail and Guardian
    “thrilling” – The Citizen

    DATE: 10 - 19 OCTOBER 2014
WRITTEN & DIRECTED BY CHARLES J. FOURIE
    FEATURING JARRID GEDULD
Happy is presented as a one-man play or mono-drama and performed by a single actor. The playwright did extensive research into the life story of the subject and brings Happy Sindane as a live-character to the stage who tells his life story from his own perspective with the focus on the events leading up to his momentous decision to publicly announce himself as a ‘white boy’ who had been abducted by a black family and forced into slavery in the township.

    ANOTHER TIME
    VENUE: INTIMATE THEATRE
    DATE: 9 - 19 OCTOBER 2014
WRITTEN & PRODUCED BY CARMIN COETZER STARRING ZANE MEAS & CARMIN COETZER DIRECTED BY DIRK STOLTZ We open on a park scene. A young woman, clearly upset, enters with a box of her personal belongings. She takes a seat on the bench and stares ahead, lost in thought. She is joined by an older gentlemen, a stranger who strikes up a conversation. She misinterprets his interest and immediately goes on the attack. As the conversation unfolds we realize that the lady was laid off and that she is in total shock. As she lashes out at her employer the older gentlemen guides her into seeing the company’s viewpoint and to realize that this is not the end for her. ‘Another Time’ deals with the difficult topic of retrenchment, diversity and transformation in South Africa. It provides insight into the effect it has on both the employer and employee’s life, relationships as well as their take on our country. It’s a story for anyone who’s ever experienced a challenging time in their career – a time where you are left desperate, confused, despondent, angry and anxious….a time completely different than what you’ve always known.
