Nothing But The Truth - no under 16s
Drama, 30 April - 23 May (no performances on 7, 8 and 9 May)

Back by popular demand, John Kani returns to the stage in this production which explores the destruction of a man's aspirations at the very moment when democracy is about to be realised.

Since its world premiere in 2002, John Kani's first play as a sole author has been hailed as a contemporary South African classic. Nothing But The Truth has been published by Wits University Press and made into an English Additional Language setwork. The death of an estranged brother forces aging librarian Sipho Makaya, along with his daughter and the niece he has never met, to confront the betrayals, jealousies and animosities of the past, both political and personal. Exploring the relationship between those who remained in South Africa to lead the struggle against apartheid and those who returned victoriously after living in exile, Nothing But The Truth explores the destruction of a man's aspirations at the very moment when democracy promises its realisation.
