The story of Tselane and the Giant is a very well known legend in most African communities, a story which has been told over and over for many years up to the present time.
This traditional African fairytale is about a young little girl who lived with her mother in a village near the forest. Everyday the mother came home with food which she harvested while working in the fields. Although they lived happily, they had a problem: deep in the dark forest lived an evil Giant who liked killing and eating little girls! Tselane and her mother lived in fear and every time the mother left to work in the fields, Tselane would lock herself inside the house and only open the door when her mother sang her a song, which was a magic pass word, so that she could safely open the door. It was not long before the evil Giant found out about Tselane and her mother's magic pass word, tricked Tselane, kidnapped her AND ...
This story is a multi-lingual and culturally diverse production, representing real life situation in our country and its communities. There is no age restriction because it appeals to both the young and old. The audience will be able to relate and identify with the storyline which addresses similar issues happening in their daily lives. It is fun, exciting, full of action, music, rituals, interaction with the audience and enjoyable. A REAL AFRICAN FLAIR WITH A TWIST!!!
The adaptation and conceptualisation of this production was inspired by little Masego Kgomo's ordeal - a story which left citizens of this country devastated. The production represents a large concern and a 'voice' to all Africans to unite and support each other in fighting and discouraging these evil acts in our beautiful country.
