Seeking Two Youth Theatre Companies to Present Annual Children’s Theatre Productions at the South
African State Theatre
Call to Youth Theatre Companies:
The South African State Theatre (SAST) invites established Youth Theatre Companies from across South Africa
to submit proposals for a three-year Children’s Theatre Partnership Programme running from 2027 to 2029.
This initiative seeks to identify two exceptional Youth Theatre Companies that share our commitment to
artistic excellence, youth development, audience growth, and accessible family theatre experiences.
Selected companies will enter into a three-year partnership with SAST, presenting one children’s theatre
production annually as part of a curated theatre season. Productions will be scheduled during March/
April and September each year, creating a consistent and anticipated offering on South Africa’s cultural
calendar. This aligns with SAST’s vision of developing a sustainable platform that nurtures young performers
while cultivating future theatre audiences.
