Remembering Marikana | 16 August Marikana – The Musical is a powerful theatrical reflection on the events at Marikana and the lives forever changed by the tragedy. Through music, storytelling and performance, the production brings the experiences and voices of the mineworkers to the forefront, preserving their stories and reminding us of the human cost behind one of South Africa’s most painful chapters. On 16 August, we remember the 34 mineworkers who lost their lives, honour the families and communities affected, and reflect on the continued call for justice, dignity and human rights. We remember. We honour. We will not forget.
